Krabi-Krabong - Beginner to Intermediate
Krabi-Krabong, the Thai Sword-Staff Fighting Martial Art
Watch Promo
Krabi-krabong is Thailand's ancient martial art system using weapons such as the krabi - curved sword, and krabong - staff or pole. Predominantly a weapon-based system, krabi-krabong is used in conjunction with Muay Boran, using kicks, pressure point strikes, joint locks, holds, and throws.
King Taksin of the Ayutthaya Kingdom learned krabi-krabong while studying in Wat Buddhaisawan as a boy. He led the Thai people to defeat the Burmese army despite being only half the size, restoring Thailand to nearly its former size. Among all the warriors under Taksin's command, the greatest fighter was Phraya Pichai Daab Hak, a nickname meaning "broken sword". Phraya Pichai was an expert with the dual swords and acquired his moniker during a battle in which he continued fighting after one of his swords was broken.
Don't miss the chance to learn Krabi-krabong from one of the best teachers in the world - Master O, together with his partner Kru Jirapat Sata.
Your Instructor
Thohsathep Sitiwatjana was born into a martial art family. The legendary Grand Master Toddy, a.k.a. Father of Muay Thai who brought Muay Thai to England, is his eldest brother. Under the influence of his brothers, he started practicing Muay Thai at a young age of 5. After graduating from the university, he went to England to teach Muay Thai together with his older brother Master A, grooming a number of Muay Thai champions. After returning to Thailand, he became the Head Master of Master Toddy's Muay Thai Academy in Bangkok, Thailand, having trained hundreds of instructors and fighters over the years, including the recent WBA South Asia Champion Oscar. He has developed his unique style of teaching, which is systematic, methodical, and progressive. It has helped a great number of Muay Thai and Krabi-krabong practitioners break the bottleneck and made leaps and bounds in their art.
